Mary Shippy specializing in supporting leaders as they evolve from their current to their future career paths within an organization. As a leadership coach she helps her clients translate skill sets and increase their capacity to effectively navigate the changing market place. Her expertise is in helping leaders to identify and change behaviors and attitudes that interfere with their effectiveness or limit their scope in the organization. leadership growth and organizational development, often calling her their trusted advisor.
Mary coach’s senior leaders including the “C” suite and VP’s within a variety of industries. She leads executive coaching cadres in the realignment process of organizations in leadership, new business initiatives, succession and cultural transitions and she coaches leaders in their executive transitions.
She also works with Leadership Teams facilitating their high-performance processes and skill development, as well as identifying behaviors and patterns that hinder their effectiveness. She consults with organizations that are defining or redefining their leadership pipelines by identifying the alignment flow from values to competencies to development –the basic Leadership DNA – within an organization. Mary also continues to research areas of concern and interest including women leaders across the generations and a new area of focus; millennial engagement and Z generation career launching.
Mary works with Dr. Brené Brown organization. Her new book Dare to Lead, coming out in October will introduce leadership skill development. Mary is a part of the Organizational Development Cadre who will be given the opportunity to facilitate this work for Dr. Browns in 2019. This work utilized a methodology that is reflective, and experience based. Topics that she addresses are vulnerability, courage, shame, resiliency and worthiness as it relates to all of life and how you lead and follow in organizations.
Business/Organizational Leadership Experience
Mary has held senior positions within organizations, including Director of Human Resources, and Director of Executive and Organizational Development. As well she has been a Senior Consultant within the Leadership Development practice of FMI and MSEC in the Denver Community. For the last 30 years, Mary has worked for many diverse and niche organizations throughout the US. In the last ten years she has worked with executives in the US, Europe, Middle East, Australia and Africa.
Education and Training
Mary’s curiosity about leadership lead to her PhD in Organizational Behavior and Development from Union Institute & University where she focused her research on multicultural leadership. She holds a M.A. in Intercultural Studies and a B.A. in Religious Education.
She is a certified Integral Coach® through New Ventures West since 2002. She is licensed by Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey from Harvard in the “Immunities to Change” process. She is certified as a MBTI, Hogan Assessment Suite, DiSC, and ESCI 360 Assessment. She is a certified Coach with the Enneagram. In addition, Mary is a Certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator (CDTLF) with Brené Brown.
Her specialties as a leadership coach and facilitator has led her to a variety of opportunities to work within education, insurance, construction, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas and finance industries. Her work has included working with fortune 500 companies here in the US and abroad.
Her company over the last decade has given time and financial resources to support girls/women’s education and leadership development through a variety of non-profit organizations around the world.
